Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and English is widely used in business and hospitality, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life. The lifestyle is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighbourhoods, diverse food and easy access to hiking trails, beaches and nearby islands. Overseas workers generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer before starting work; applications usually require a confirmed job, suitable qualifications and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. New arrivals should budget carefully for relatively high rent, consider shared accommodation, arrange health and banking services, and check contract details, working hours and benefits before relocating.
