Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, logistics, finance and technology. The culture is multicultural, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences reflected in its food, festivals and daily life. Public transport is clean, reliable and extensive, while shopping centres, hawker markets, parks and waterfront areas make leisure convenient. Living costs, especially rent, can be high, although employer accommodation or staff meals may sometimes be available in hospitality roles. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications and salary. Before relocating, candidates should confirm pass eligibility, accommodation, medical requirements and employment benefits. Singapore is safe and well organised, but newcomers should budget carefully and adapt to a fast-paced, humid urban lifestyle.
