Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and professional services. Hotel jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, the Central Business District and Changi. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare and abundant dining and entertainment. Living costs, especially rent, are relatively high, so many newcomers share accommodation or live outside the central districts. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications and salary. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. Before relocating, confirm pass eligibility, accommodation costs, insurance, contract terms and whether meals, transport or housing support are included.
