Destination Guide

The Philippines offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism, business services and digital work. Major hospitality markets include Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol and Davao. Filipino culture is welcoming, family-oriented and community-minded, with English widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living in Manila to relaxed coastal communities, where beaches, diving and island travel are central attractions. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although central Manila and popular resort areas can be expensive. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, commonly arranged with support from the hiring company; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation planning should include accommodation, healthcare, banking, transport, taxation and local registration. Typhoons, humidity and seasonal travel disruptions are important practical considerations.
