Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a highly connected international city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, logistics, and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and residents enjoy excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, festivals, hiking, beaches, and vibrant nightlife. The lifestyle is fast-paced, urban, and convenient, though housing can be expensive and living spaces are often compact. Foreign nationals generally need a valid work visa before starting employment; the employer usually supports applications under the appropriate employment scheme, and approval depends on qualifications, salary, and labor-market requirements. Applicants should confirm visa sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, and working hours with Shangri-La. Hong Kong is officially a city and territory rather than a single island, including Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories, and outlying islands.
