Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, retail, technology, professional services and international marketing. The culture is energetic and cosmopolitan, combining Cantonese traditions, global business influences, excellent food and a highly efficient urban lifestyle. Housing can be expensive, but public transport is extensive and daily life is convenient; beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands provide easy escapes from the city. Overseas professionals generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, commonly through the General Employment Policy, and should secure an approved job offer before relocating. Employers often assist with visa documentation, onboarding and sometimes housing guidance, although packages vary. A valid passport, qualifications, employment contract and evidence of relevant experience are normally required. Hong Kong uses the Hong Kong dollar, and Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hospitality.
