Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Its culture combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages and excellent hawker cuisine. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with reliable public transport, modern shopping areas, parks and easy access to regional travel. Accommodation can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many employees share apartments or live farther from work. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or applicable Work Permit; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and prevailing government rules. Secure a written offer, confirm benefits and check pass requirements before relocating. Singapore’s hot, humid climate makes suitable clothing and health insurance important.
