Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a major international business centre with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, accounting, banking, retail, technology, logistics, and professional services. Although best known for Hong Kong Island, the territory also includes Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport connecting the main districts. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; English is widely used in business, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life. Residents enjoy efficient transport, dense urban living, varied restaurants, shopping, hiking, beaches, and nearby islands. Rents are high, so many professionals share apartments or live outside Central and commute by MTR. Foreign professionals generally require an employment visa sponsored by an employer, with eligibility based on qualifications, experience, and a genuine job offer. Applicants should arrange housing, health insurance, banking, tax registration, and document authentication before relocating. Salaries should be assessed against housing and living costs.
