Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with strong employment opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, shared services and healthcare. Major hospitality hubs include Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol and Davao. The culture is friendly, family-oriented and highly influenced by Spanish, American and Asian traditions; English is widely used in workplaces. Island living offers warm weather, beaches, affordable local food and a relaxed lifestyle, although traffic, humidity, storms and uneven public transport can be challenging. Salaries vary considerably, and accommodation and service-charge arrangements should be confirmed before accepting an offer. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored Alien Employment Permit and appropriate work visa, while Filipino citizens need standard hiring documents. Relocating employees should arrange a valid passport, medical checks, authenticated qualifications where required, local banking and suitable accommodation. Travel between islands is usually by domestic flight, ferry or bus.
