Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Hospitality offers opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, catering, bakeries, clubs and tourism, although competition is strong and work can be demanding. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; respect, punctuality and efficient teamwork are highly valued. Lifestyle highlights include diverse food, vibrant nightlife, shopping and abundant outdoor activities. Rents can be high, especially near central districts, so many workers choose shared accommodation or live farther from work. Foreign employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer before starting work. Applicants should prepare qualifications, references, passport documents and proof of experience. Employer-provided accommodation, meals, transport or relocation support may vary by contract.
