Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, wellness and food and beverage, particularly in Bali, Jakarta, Surabaya, Lombok and the Riau Islands. Bali is the most popular relocation destination for hospitality professionals, offering an international community, beaches, outdoor activities and a relaxed lifestyle, although housing and traffic can be challenging in busy areas. Indonesian culture values respect, family, community and modesty, while workplaces are often multicultural and service-focused. Foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers usually assist with immigration, accommodation or relocation arrangements, but applicants should confirm benefits carefully. Costs vary considerably by island, with Bali resort areas generally more expensive than many other regions.
