Front Office Officer

Hong Kong Shangri-La HKD 16,000–22,000 per month, plus possible service charge and benefits*
Job Description

The Front Office Officer supports smooth guest arrivals, departures, check-in and check-out, room assignments, payments, reservations coordination and guest enquiries. The role typically requires a hospitality qualification or relevant hotel experience, strong communication skills and a professional, service-oriented attitude. Fluency in English is generally expected; Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable in Hong Kong. Candidates should be well presented, organised, accurate and comfortable working shifts, weekends and public holidays. The successful applicant is expected to handle guest concerns tactfully, protect confidential information, work effectively with other departments and consistently uphold Shangri-La’s service standards.

Company Info

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognised internationally for Asian-inspired service and warm guest experiences. The group operates luxury hotels, resorts and related properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other destinations. Its Hong Kong hotels serve business and leisure travellers with accommodation, restaurants, meeting facilities, wellness services and event venues. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on personalised hospitality, employee development, teamwork and operational excellence. Exact employment terms vary by property and position, but hotel colleagues may receive service charge, meals, staff discounts, medical coverage and other benefits depending on local policy. Working for the group can provide useful international hospitality experience and opportunities to progress across front office, rooms, food and beverage, events and other hotel departments.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic city with excellent public transport, a major international airport and abundant opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hospitality and Mandarin is increasingly useful. Life is fast-paced, safe and convenient, with dense urban neighbourhoods, excellent food, shopping, hiking and nearby beaches. Rent is high, so many newcomers share accommodation or live in outer districts and commute by MTR. Overseas employees normally need an employment visa sponsored by an eligible employer, with approval depending on qualifications, salary and labour-market requirements. Candidates should secure a written offer, confirm visa sponsorship and budget for deposits, transport, healthcare and initial living costs before relocating.
