Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, property management, finance, technology, retail and tourism. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international business practices, festivals, excellent food and a fast-paced working style. Lifestyle options range from dense urban districts and harbourfront dining to hiking, beaches and quieter outlying islands. Public transport is efficient, although accommodation can be expensive; many workers live in Kowloon or the New Territories and commute by MTR. Overseas professionals normally need an approved employment visa before starting work, commonly through the General Employment Policy, with the employer providing supporting documents. Applicants should confirm salary, accommodation, medical coverage, working hours and visa sponsorship directly with Shangri-La. Hong Kong’s humid summers, compact living spaces and rotating hotel shifts are worth considering when planning relocation.
