Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, finance, technology and healthcare. Hospitality employees can find work in international hotels, resorts, serviced apartments and food-and-beverage businesses, especially around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa and Changi. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally welcoming, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle amenities include excellent public transport, safe neighbourhoods, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy access to Southeast Asia. Employers normally sponsor the appropriate work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and government approval. International hires should secure a written offer before relocating and confirm accommodation, medical coverage and relocation support. Living costs, especially rent, are high, so shared housing or employer accommodation may be practical. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid throughout the year, with frequent rain.
