Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology and shared services. Island-based roles are common in Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor and Sabah destinations, while Kuala Lumpur and Johor provide broader corporate and hospitality employment. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hotels. Island life is generally relaxed, outdoors-oriented and centred on beaches, food and community, although housing, transport and imported goods may cost more. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass before starting work; the company usually handles approval and immigration procedures. Candidates should confirm passport validity, medical requirements, accommodation, transport, taxation and dependent arrangements. Malaysia’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round, with heavier rainfall during monsoon periods that vary by coast and island.
