Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-island with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, food and beverage, events, retail and business services. Its culture is multicultural, blending Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences, with English widely used at work. The lifestyle is safe, convenient and fast-paced, supported by excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping and abundant urban attractions. Rent can be expensive, especially near the city centre, so many workers share accommodation or live near MRT lines. Foreign hires generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on qualifications, salary and experience, and the employer normally submits the application. Candidates should secure a written offer, confirm pass arrangements and budget for deposits, healthcare and daily expenses before relocating. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
