Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, property management, finance, technology, retail, aviation, education and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals and global influences, with English widely used in business and tourism. Life is fast-paced and urban: public transport is excellent, dining is diverse, and hiking, beaches and outlying islands provide access to nature. Housing is expensive, especially in central districts, so many employees live in Kowloon or the New Territories and commute by MTR. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by an employer; approval depends on a confirmed role, relevant qualifications and experience, and proof that the position meets local requirements. Dependants may usually apply for dependant visas. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, medical cover, banking and an identity card after arrival. Hong Kong's subtropical climate means hot, humid summers and occasional typhoons, so relocation planning should include weather and housing considerations.
