Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, retail, finance, technology and professional services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, dim sum, markets and a fast-paced working style. Life is convenient, with excellent public transport, extensive dining and shopping, hiking trails, beaches and nearby islands, although housing is expensive and space is limited. Overseas employees normally need an approved employment visa before starting work; the employer generally sponsors the application and the candidate must demonstrate a genuine job offer, suitable qualifications or experience and market-level pay. Dependants may be eligible for accompanying visas. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, an identity card, banking, healthcare coverage and tax registration. Hong Kong's humid summers, dense urban environment and long commuting patterns are worth considering when planning relocation.
