Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a highly connected international city with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, retail, logistics, education, and professional services. Its hotel industry is supported by business travel, events, tourism, and luxury retail. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in hotels and international workplaces; Mandarin is also valuable. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking trails, beaches, and compact urban neighborhoods. Housing can be expensive, especially on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so many newcomers share apartments or live in the New Territories. Foreign employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by an employer, usually under the General Employment Policy, and must secure approval before working. Employers may provide meals, medical coverage, accommodation assistance, or transport depending on the role.
