Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism and related services, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Island destinations such as Langkawi and Penang provide a relaxed lifestyle, tropical beaches, diverse food and a blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous cultures. Major cities offer better transport, healthcare, schools and broader career options, while resort areas are more seasonal and quieter. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling approval and immigration procedures; working before approval is not permitted. Applicants should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, transport and relocation support before accepting an offer. Malaysia is generally affordable compared with many international destinations, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular resort areas can be more expensive. Learning basic Malay and respecting local customs, religious practices and public holidays will help newcomers settle in successfully.
