Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island city with opportunities in hospitality, engineering, facilities management, technology, finance, healthcare and logistics. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient and safe, with efficient public transport, modern healthcare, plentiful shopping and a broad range of food. Living costs, especially rent, are high, so many employees share accommodation or live outside the central area. Weather is hot, humid and tropical throughout the year, with frequent rain. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on nationality, salary, qualifications and the role, with common options including the Employment Pass or S Pass. The employer normally submits the application, while candidates must verify current requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Relocation planning should include housing, transport, insurance and tax considerations.
