Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. The culture is multicultural, blending Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle is convenient and safe, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Efficient public transport makes commuting easy, and residents enjoy diverse food, shopping, parks and waterfront areas. Foreign candidates normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; hospitality employees may qualify for an S Pass or, depending on salary and credentials, another applicable pass. The employer generally submits the application, while approval depends on current government criteria. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, transport, insurance and deposits, and confirm work-pass, medical and relocation arrangements before travelling.
