Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state rather than a traditional island resort. It offers opportunities in hospitality, events, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, education and retail, with many international employers. The culture is multicultural, shaped by Chinese, Malay, Indian and expatriate communities, and English is widely used at work. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare and diverse food options. Housing, dining and childcare can be expensive, especially in central areas, although salaries are generally competitive. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and government approval. Candidates should secure an offer before relocating and confirm pass, medical, tax and accommodation arrangements. Singapore’s warm, humid climate requires light clothing and adaptation to frequent rain.
