Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality and engineering opportunities in Bali, Jakarta, Lombok, Batam and other resort destinations. Bali is especially attractive for international hotel careers, with a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and a large expatriate community, while Jakarta provides a faster-paced metropolitan environment and more corporate opportunities. Local culture values courtesy, community, religious traditions and respectful workplace relationships; customs differ between islands. Living costs vary considerably, with Bali resort areas often more expensive than smaller cities. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and limited-stay visa, commonly arranged before employment begins. Employers may assist with documentation, accommodation or relocation, but this should be confirmed in the offer. Applicants should budget for housing deposits, health insurance, transport and tax obligations, and verify current immigration rules with Indonesian authorities or the company’s HR department.
