Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, cruise-related hospitality, tourism and food production, particularly in Bali, Java, Lombok and the Riau Islands. Bali is the most internationally connected island and provides a relaxed lifestyle, strong expatriate communities, beaches and a large hospitality sector, although housing and traffic can be expensive in popular areas. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, religious diversity and respect for local customs. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work and stay permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers commonly assist with immigration, accommodation, flights, meals, insurance and relocation, but benefits should be confirmed in writing. Candidates should check taxation, contract terms, medical requirements and family arrangements before moving. Major cities offer international schools and healthcare, while resort locations may have fewer specialist services.
