Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping and safe neighbourhoods. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many employees share apartments or live farther from the city centre. Singapore has a tropical climate, reliable infrastructure and convenient access to Southeast Asia. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and the role. Employers normally manage the application, but candidates should confirm the pass type and current requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Relocation planning should include accommodation, healthcare, transport and daily living costs.
