Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, construction, technology, finance and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle is safe and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and a warm tropical climate. Housing and daily expenses can be high, particularly near central districts, so salary and accommodation should be considered carefully. Foreign employees generally need employer-sponsored permission to work, commonly an Employment Pass for professional roles or an S Pass where eligible; approval depends on qualifications, salary and government criteria. New arrivals should arrange valid travel documents, housing, medical coverage and a local bank account. Singapore offers an efficient base for exploring Southeast Asia, although the fast-paced work environment may require adjustment.
