Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Hospitality work is concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, the airport and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, orderly and service-focused, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Public transport is efficient, while housing and daily expenses can be relatively high. Singapore is warm and humid year-round, with frequent rain. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and sector rules. The employer normally submits the application, but approval is not guaranteed. Candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, transport, working hours and pass eligibility before relocating.
