Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and security. The workplace is multicultural, efficient and service-oriented, with English widely used in business. Life is convenient and safe, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare, shopping centres and diverse food options. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central areas, so many employees choose shared accommodation or live near MRT lines. Singapore is tropical year-round, with heat, humidity and frequent rain. Foreign workers generally need employer-sponsored permission to work, such as an S Pass or Employment Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and government requirements. Employers usually handle the application, but approval is not guaranteed. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, deposits and insurance, and confirm whether accommodation, meals, uniforms or relocation assistance are included in the offer.
