Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities for hospitality professionals across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other resort islands. Bali has the largest concentration of international hotels, restaurants and wellness businesses, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide stronger corporate and city-hotel markets. The culture is welcoming and community-oriented, with Indonesian, Balinese and other regional traditions influencing food, festivals and daily life. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed beach communities; costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although popular areas of Bali can be expensive. Foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship, a work permit and the appropriate limited-stay visa, commonly arranged through the hiring company. Candidates should confirm tax, insurance, accommodation and dependants’ visa arrangements before relocating. Learning basic Bahasa Indonesia and respecting local customs, religious practices and dress expectations will make settling in considerably easier.
