Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Its culture is multicultural, shaped by Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle is convenient and safe, with excellent public transport, varied food, shopping, parks and efficient public services. Accommodation can be expensive, especially near the city centre, so many workers share apartments or live farther from work. Foreign employees generally need employer-sponsored permission to work, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. The employer normally manages the application. Before relocating, confirm the contract, deductions, working hours, medical coverage and accommodation arrangements, and budget for rent, transport and daily expenses.
