Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in tourism, hotels, restaurants, travel services, technology, education, healthcare, and international business. Hospitality professionals may find roles in Colombo, the southern coastal resorts, the Cultural Triangle, Kandy, and the eastern beaches. The culture combines South Asian traditions, Buddhist and Hindu heritage, colonial influences, welcoming communities, and a strong emphasis on family and respect. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed beach or countryside life, with generally affordable food, transport, and housing outside central Colombo. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa or residence approval before starting work; requirements can include a contract, passport, qualifications, medical checks, and government approvals. Applicants should confirm current rules with the Sri Lankan mission and employer. Relocation packages may include housing, meals, flights, insurance, and transport, but these should be confirmed in writing.
