Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, tourism, marketing, events and guest services, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations. Penang combines heritage, food culture and a lively urban lifestyle, while Langkawi offers beaches, nature and a slower island pace. Sabah provides access to diving, rainforests and outdoor activities. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences reflected in food, festivals, language and daily life. Costs are generally moderate, though resort islands can be more expensive. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and should confirm eligibility, medical requirements and documentation before relocating. Accommodation, transport and healthcare vary by island, so candidates should review the employment package carefully. English is widely used in hotels, although learning basic Malay is helpful.
