Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state rather than a traditional resort island, offering strong opportunities in hospitality, facilities management, engineering, technology, finance, healthcare and logistics. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also important community languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with excellent public transport, reliable infrastructure and strict laws. Lifestyle options include diverse food, shopping, parks, waterfront areas and easy regional travel. International employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; the Employment Pass is generally for professional roles meeting salary and qualification requirements, while the S Pass is commonly used for eligible technical positions, subject to quotas and levies. Secure a job offer before relocating, check pass eligibility, arrange temporary accommodation and budget carefully, as rent and daily expenses can be high. Healthcare is good, and tax rules should be reviewed before arrival.
