Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with very different work and lifestyle opportunities across its islands. Java, especially Jakarta, offers the widest range of corporate, hotel, tourism and event-sales jobs, while Bali is stronger for resorts, weddings, leisure tourism and international hospitality. Lombok and the eastern islands provide growing opportunities in resort development, diving and sustainable tourism. Indonesian culture values respect, modesty, family, hospitality and relationship-building; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with generally affordable local food and transport, though housing in Jakarta and popular Bali areas can be expensive. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship, an appropriate work permit and a limited-stay visa before starting work. Employers usually guide the immigration process. Research accommodation, healthcare, taxation, climate and local regulations before relocating.
