Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, logistics, technology and finance. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in festivals, languages and hawker food. The lifestyle is safe, clean and efficient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare and many shopping, dining and leisure options. Housing can be expensive, so employees should compare shared rooms, staff accommodation and commuting costs before relocating. Foreign workers generally need an approved work pass arranged by their employer. Kitchen and service roles may be covered by a Work Permit, while some skilled positions may qualify for an S Pass, subject to current salary, quota and eligibility rules. Applicants should verify conditions with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower and confirm accommodation, deductions, insurance, working hours and leave entitlements with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
