Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, safe and highly connected island city-state with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, retail, logistics and services. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient, but accommodation and daily expenses can be high; many entry-level workers share housing or live in areas outside the central districts. Public transport is reliable and affordable, and the tropical climate is hot and humid year-round. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an S Pass or Work Permit, subject to government eligibility and sector quotas. Confirm the offered salary, accommodation, meals, working hours, deductions, medical coverage and pass type before accepting a position. New arrivals should budget for a deposit, transport and initial living costs.
