Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, property management, engineering, finance, technology, retail, aviation, and international business. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals, British influences, and a highly global outlook. Life is fast-paced, convenient, and urban, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, nightlife, beaches, hiking trails, and nearby islands such as Lantau and Cheung Chau. Housing is expensive, particularly near major business districts, though public transport makes commuting practical. Overseas professionals normally need an employment visa sponsored by an eligible employer, with approval based on qualifications, relevant experience, and a confirmed job offer. Dependants may usually apply for dependant visas. New arrivals should prepare for humid summers, typhoons, compact accommodation, and a high cost of living, while benefiting from efficient services, international schools, and a vibrant expatriate community.
