Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Johor and other resort destinations. Event sales professionals can find roles with luxury hotels, convention centres, destination management companies, restaurants and tourism businesses. The culture is multicultural, blending Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business and hotels. Lifestyle options range from lively city living and excellent food to beaches, rainforests and island escapes. Langkawi, Penang and Sabah are especially attractive for resort-based careers, although Kuala Lumpur provides the largest corporate events market. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass arranged and sponsored by the hiring company before starting work. Relocation requires budgeting for accommodation, transport, medical cover and dependent arrangements. Candidates should confirm pass eligibility, contract benefits, tax responsibilities and any local registration requirements directly with the employer.
