Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories, and surrounding islands. Hospitality offers opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, events, cruise services, retail, tourism, and facilities management. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with global business influences; politeness, punctuality, efficiency, and respect for hierarchy are valued at work. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, hiking trails, beaches, and a strong urban lifestyle. Housing is expensive, so employees often share accommodation or live farther from central districts. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work visa before starting employment, with qualifications and a confirmed job offer usually required. Employers may assist with documentation, but applicants should verify current Immigration Department rules. Relocating workers should budget for deposits, transport, healthcare, and initial living costs.
