Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic city with excellent opportunities in hospitality, finance, retail, technology, logistics, and professional services. Although often called an island city, it includes Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, with efficient MTR trains, ferries, buses, and trams connecting major areas. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is dominant, while English is widely used in business and hotels. Lifestyle options range from busy urban districts and global dining to hiking trails, beaches, festivals, and nearby islands. Rent can be high, so many newcomers share accommodation or live farther from central districts. Overseas employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, with qualifications and a confirmed job offer required. Applicants should verify current immigration rules before relocating. A Hong Kong Identity Card is normally arranged after arrival.
