Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city and island territory with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, law, technology, property and international business. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences, while English is widely used in professional settings. Residents enjoy efficient public transport, excellent dining, hiking trails, beaches and a lively urban lifestyle, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign professionals normally require an employment visa sponsored by their employer; applicants must demonstrate relevant qualifications, experience and a genuine role that cannot readily be filled locally. Employers commonly assist with visa documentation, relocation advice and sometimes housing or flights, depending on seniority. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health insurance and banking, and understand Hong Kong tax and employment rules. The city’s extensive rail, ferry and airport networks also make regional travel convenient.
