Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, the Riau Islands and other resort destinations. Bali has the widest range of hotel, restaurant and tourism jobs, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide stronger city-hotel and corporate opportunities. The culture is diverse, welcoming and community-oriented, with Bahasa Indonesia as the national language and English widely used in international hotels. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities; housing, transport and costs depend heavily on the island and resort location. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit, commonly arranged through the company before starting work. Visa rules can change, so applicants should confirm requirements with Shangri-La and Indonesian immigration authorities. Relocation packages may include accommodation, meals, transport, medical benefits or flights, but these vary by contract. Candidates should clarify tax, accommodation, working hours and permit responsibilities before accepting an offer.
