Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers extensive opportunities in hotels, restaurants, catering, events, tourism and luxury retail, making it suitable for experienced hospitality professionals. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences and a fast-paced work environment. Employees can enjoy excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking trails, beaches and a vibrant city lifestyle, although housing costs are high and living space is limited. English is widely used in international hotels, while Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable advantages. Foreign nationals normally need an approved employment visa before starting work; the employer usually sponsors the application and must show a genuine role with appropriate qualifications and salary. Applicants should confirm visa eligibility, medical or document requirements, housing arrangements, working hours and benefits directly with Shangri-La. Hong Kong is not generally described as an island destination, but the territory includes Hong Kong Island and many outlying islands.
