Destination Guide

The Philippines offers hospitality, tourism, business-process, healthcare, education, and technology opportunities, especially in Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and other resort destinations. Filipino culture is warm, family-oriented, and community-minded, with English widely used in workplaces. Life can range from busy urban living in Manila to a slower, beach-focused lifestyle on islands such as Cebu, Boracay, or Palawan. Costs vary considerably; Manila and major resort areas are generally more expensive than provincial locations. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, commonly an Alien Employment Permit together with a 9(g) work visa. Employers often assist with documentation, but requirements should be confirmed with Philippine authorities. New arrivals should budget for housing, transportation, healthcare, tropical weather, and occasional power or internet interruptions.
