Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, property management, engineering, safety, tourism and service operations. Bali is the most popular relocation destination for international workers, while Java, including Jakarta and Surabaya, provides broader corporate and residential employment. Indonesian culture values hospitality, community, respect for elders and religious diversity; modest dress and awareness of local customs are important. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with generally affordable food and transport, although housing in Bali’s main tourist areas can be costly. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate work and residence permits, commonly arranged through the hiring company before employment begins. A valid passport, medical checks and supporting documents are usually required. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, tax, insurance and visa responsibilities directly with Shangri-La before relocating.
