Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology and healthcare. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and neighbourhoods. Lifestyle is convenient and urban, with excellent public transport, safe streets, modern shopping areas, parks and a lively restaurant scene. Housing can be expensive, especially near the city centre, so many workers choose shared accommodation or areas connected by MRT. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; approval is handled through Singapore's Ministry of Manpower. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, insurance, banking and tax registration, and confirm whether meals, transport, uniforms or staff housing are included in the employment package.
