Company Info

United Overseas Bank (UOB) is a major Southeast Asian bank headquartered in Singapore, with operations across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The bank provides retail and commercial banking, wealth management, investment banking, treasury, and transaction banking services to individuals, businesses, and institutions. Employees may benefit from structured career development, exposure to regional operations, and the opportunity to work with investment and banking products in a multinational environment.

Destination Guide

Thailand offers strong opportunities in banking, finance, technology, hospitality, education, healthcare, and tourism, with Bangkok as the main corporate center. Popular island destinations such as Phuket, Koh Samui, and Koh Phangan provide a relaxed coastal lifestyle, while Bangkok offers better transport, schools, hospitals, and professional networking. Thai culture values politeness, respect for seniority, family, and harmony. Living costs vary widely: Bangkok and major resort areas are more expensive, while smaller cities and islands can be affordable. Foreign employees generally need a Thai Non-Immigrant B visa and a work permit sponsored by their employer; requirements can include an employment contract, qualifications, and company documentation. Long-term residents should arrange health insurance, housing, banking, and tax registration. English is common in multinational workplaces, but learning basic Thai is highly useful for daily life and integration.
