Company Info

United Overseas Bank, commonly known as UOB, is a major Singapore-based bank with operations across Southeast Asia and key international financial centres. Established in 1935, the group provides personal banking, commercial and corporate banking, wealth management, investment banking, and transaction banking services. UOB has a significant presence in Thailand, serving local companies, multinational corporations, entrepreneurs, and affluent customers through branches and specialist banking teams. Its wholesale banking business supports clients with lending, cash management, trade finance, treasury, capital markets, and advisory solutions. Following its acquisition of Citigroup’s consumer banking businesses in several ASEAN markets, UOB has strengthened its regional footprint and customer base. The bank typically values integrity, teamwork, customer focus, disciplined risk management, and strong regional collaboration. This role offers exposure to Thai and cross-border business clients within a large, established Asian banking group.

Destination Guide

Thailand offers banking and finance opportunities mainly in Bangkok, with additional commercial activity in Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya, and major regional cities. International banks and large Thai institutions recruit relationship managers, credit specialists, risk professionals, analysts, technology staff, and operations teams. Thai workplace culture generally values respect, hierarchy, relationship building, and calm, polite communication; English is important in multinational banking, while Thai is highly useful for local clients. Bangkok provides the broadest career options, efficient transport, modern housing, restaurants, and extensive services. Thailand’s islands, including Phuket, Koh Samui, and Krabi’s surrounding islands, offer a more relaxed lifestyle but fewer corporate finance roles. Foreign employees normally need a Non-Immigrant B visa and a work permit sponsored by their employer; requirements can change, so confirm details with UOB and Thai authorities. Relocation planning should include housing, healthcare, tax registration, banking, and appropriate professional qualifications.
