Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology and banking opportunities mainly in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley, with additional roles in Penang, Johor and other regional centres. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest career market, modern infrastructure, international schools, hospitals, shopping and varied food, while Penang offers a more relaxed lifestyle and a strong technology sector. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore, though central Kuala Lumpur rents can be significant. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval and salary requirements depending on the role and current regulations. Relocating candidates should confirm tax, healthcare, accommodation and dependent-pass arrangements before accepting an offer. Malaysia's islands and coastal areas, including Langkawi, provide popular weekend destinations.
